It’s Wednesday evening in New York — just over halfway through the first Roll Film Week of 2019 — and photographers around the world have posted 654 photos to the #rollfilmweek hashtag since Monday morning. (At this point last summer, that number was just over 400.) Thank you for being part of it!
We’ve been featuring a selection of photos on the @RollFilmWeek account. Here’s a look at the first three days:
Thursday and Friday
Our Flickr group is also a great place to share and browse — and you can tell us your favorite photos in the group discussions. FYI, the pool will close at 11:59 p.m. EST Friday (8:59 p.m. PST Friday, 4:59 a.m. GMT Saturday).
“What is the theme for tomorrow’s features?”
Short answer: We don’t know yet.
Long answer: Every evening, Rachel James and I browse the #rollfilmweek hashtag and look for patterns that catch our eye. When we have eight strong photos (or two sets of four) with something special in common, we assemble the daily features. Then I send a direct message to everyone we plan to feature before publishing the reposts.
Here’s the thing — we love curating the features and love spotlighting your work. But it’s not about Insta-recognition … it’s about sharing and connecting with each other. Please take some time to browse the Instagram hashtag and/or Flickr pool and get to know other members of the community. Hit the like button, leave a comment, make a friend or two.
If you have other questions that aren’t answered on our about page or in the newsletter archive, feel free to reply to this email or send a direct message on Instagram. We’ll be back with another update this weekend. Keep on rolling!
